Shahin Gavanji, from Iran, is one of NAASCA's newest family members.

We hope to have him on our "Stop Child Abuse Now" talk radio show soon, as he wants to speak about one of his newest efforts, the Global Campaign to End Childhood Marriage. It certainly sounds like something NAASCA wants to hear about!

Here are a couple other programs he's been doing:

‘My Body Is My Body'

Launching the First National Campaign to Prevent Child Abuse in IRAN .. with more than 3000 signatures

by Shah in Gavanji

IRAN -- As the Iran chapter of ‘My Body Is My Body' program, Shahin Gavanji, a world peace ambassador, has organized this National Campaign to prevent child abuse in Iran.

The purpose of the campaign is to announce the support of the Iranian people for preventing child abuse by signing the petition.

In this plan, 15 square meters were set aside in all the main parks of each province. This Campaign launched in Iran on January 2, 2018, and more than 3,000 signatures were collected from all cities in Iran (31 locations).

The goals of this campaign:

1 - The collective participation of citizens to learn about this positive, social program, leading to child abuse prevention

2 - Meetings and face-to-face conversations with different groups of people on a large scale, to get familiar with the ‘My Body Is My Body' program

3 - Raising belief in development of awareness, starting conversations between Iranian people, and learning teamwork activities to protect children.

A 5-minute ‘Class-In-Street' campaign

Campaign reaches more than 8,000 child labors in Iran, raising their awareness of child abuse and prevention

All children, due to their age, are considered to be vulnerable, and actually need special protection and care.

Lamentably, their constant hard-working status in dangerous places prevents them from going to school, deprives them of meaningful childhood memories and puts their mental and physical health in jeopardy. This can cause irreparable and life-long damage.

Those prophylactic measures which can act as a deterrent factor should be taken to eradicate child abuse in a positive way.

Child labors working on the street and other high-risk-locations are very young, so that they have few in adequate life skills. They are deprived of a primary education, and are vulnerable to child abuse.

The primary goal of this campaign, launched by Shahin Gavanji in 2010 as self-protection program, is raising children's awareness. It teaches kids about the dangers of physical, sexual, and/or psychological maltreatment or neglect of a child, especially by a parent or other caregiver.

Moreover, the children are given free and adequate information within 5 minutes about the dangers of child abuse and its disastrous impact on their body and mind.

In this program, children are given a cheese sandwich. While they are eating, they are asked to listen to our training and advice.

The 5 minute ‘Class-In-Street' campaign has been held in the streets since 2010, and, as a result, more than 8000 child laborers have briefly been made aware of child abuse issues.

To run this campaign, volunteers were actively recruited from across Iran.

Future plans involve running and expanding this campaign broadly, especially in other countries where there are problems with child labor.
