  SOL-Reform.com web site updated !

EDITOR'S NOTE: We at NAASCA are proud to be signators and co-sponsors of the effort to revise Statute of Limitation legislation thoroughout the United States. Marci Hamilton, a NAASCA family member, is the person most principally engaged for all of us in this issue, as she travels state to state to testify whenever a reform of SOL laws is being considered.

by Marci Hamilton

It is my pleasure to announce that www.SOL-Reform.com, which tracks child sex abuse statutes of limitation (SOLs) in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, has been comprehensively updated. This was a herculean task as SOLs are in flux and each state has its own history and law. All updates are for the purpose of public education on child sex abuse victims' access to justice. The site serves survivors, the general public, the media, academics, and lawyers.

Here is what is new:
  • Graph of all 50 states' civil SOLs so you can compare your state to the other  states at a glance.

  • Civil and Criminal SOLs Updated State-by-state with standardized and easier-to-read state pages.

  • Updated 2015 “Snapshot” that summarizes pending 2015 legislation; lists states with no criminal SOL; states with no civil SOL; and states that have revived civil SOLs.

  • More sources in Resources, with more added regularly.
Updating and maintaining the site is a collaborative process by necessity. I am deeply grateful to Courtney Soliday, Research Assistant, Cardozo Law School, Class of 2015, for her expertise and tireless work in designing and refining the site; Jordan Walsh, Graduate Fellow, Cardozo Law School, Class of 2015, for her in-depth research to update each state; and Alyssa Figueroa, my Chief Research Assistant, for assistance as needed with research and inputting, and my entire team.

As always, we welcome any and all updates (and all tweaks) for every state and D.C.  If you have an update or question, please email help@sol-reform.com --
