Just a Few Days Until The Innocence Revolution - A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse -
35 States and 40 Countries Signed on to Host Events!

Announcement from Jill Starishevsky - Manager of Child Safety Network

On April 14, 2013, we will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Child Abuse Prevention Month. We will bring awareness and education on child sexual abuse prevention to countless people around the world.

With a flash mob planned in London, road races in Kenya, DC and Florida and an outdoor music festival in India with a clothing drive to clothe naked children in the streets, there will be plenty of opportunity to make an impact and allow our voices to be heard. Pakistan, Italy and Africa are among the countries joining in.

Please go to http://www.TheInnocenceRevolution.net and register for an event in your area. If there isn't one, get 30 white balloons and a press release and orchestrate a balloon release in honor of the day. Or arrange to have your church ring their bells in honor of The Innocence Revolution. Do something and get involved in the fight to end child sexual abuse.

Now is the time to tweet and post on Facebook. Please use the hashtag #TheInnocenceRevolution

If you have any media contacts, please share the word with them as well. We appreciate your support in this monumental global event. On April 14th, we intend to make some noise so together we can stop the silence.

The Innocence Revolution

The Mission:

The mission of The Innocence Revolution is to unite and mobilize societies worldwide to end child sexual abuse.

The Need:

Child sexual abuse spans the globe and, as an international society, our silence allows predators to violate and defile children in all countries.

Violated children turn to drugs, alcohol, violence, and other self-destructive behaviors. They struggle with depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, cutting, social isolation, and violence.

While child sexual abuse is not the cause in every case, we can significantly reduce all of these social ills by eradicating child sexual abuse and assuring that each child enters adulthood with their emotional, physical and sexual boundaries intact.

The Innocence Revolution promotes the following:

1.It is the responsibility of adults to protect children.

2.It is the responsibility of adults to understand the behavior of predators, be vigilant about observing activity with children, and intervene at the first sign of risk.

3.Because 93% of predators are known to a child, it must be the responsibility of all adults to protect all children. This cannot be entrusted to family alone.

4.It is the responsibility of parents to educate children about their bodies, healthy sexuality, personal boundaries, and how to respond if someone crosses a boundary. Education is a supplement to, but does not replace, parental responsibility.

5.It is the responsibility of adults to ASSUME a child is telling the truth when they disclose about an inappropriate or abusive situation, and then turn the matter over to law enforcement for a proper, objective investigation.

6.It is the responsibility of adults to know that predators are skilled liars and manipulators, deceiving both the child and parents. They may be the happy, loveable people we invite into our homes.

7.It is the responsibility of adults to recognize that few children can protect themselves from manipulation or control by a brother, sister, parent, relative, clergy or authority figure.

The core strategy of The Innocence Revolution is to create a focal point for uniting individuals and organizations worldwide that share a commitment to ending child sexual abuse.

This framework will promote, and provide access to, resources and service providers, support the education of communities, the protection of children, and healing for those adults who have suffered sexual abuse as children. To succeed, thousands of organizations and volunteers are needed around the world to participate.
