National Child Abuse Awareness Month (April) 2012

"Army of Angels" sponsors kick-off events and 2 week long cross country motorcycle journey promoting 2012 National Child Abuse Awareness Month (April) 2012

January 20, 2012

by Bill Murray

Here at NAASCA we're delighted to have the opportunity to cooperate with Kathleen Moore, founder of "Army of Angels" in Sacramento, CA, and to help promote the special events planned to celebrate this years's National Child Abuse Awareness Month (April 2012).

Now in it's 29th year, the month was originally set aside by proclamation in 1983 during the Presidency of Ronald Reagan as a way of raising awareness for the issues of child abuse in America.

The Blue Ribbon that's associated with child abuse (much as the pink ones are associated with breast cancer) was first established in 1989, yet few are aware of it even today.

To us it seems the country is just now starting to talk more seriously about these issues, learning to put aside the taboo of discussing such things as childhood sexuality in favor of saving our kids.

And that's a first step .. .

One can express the cause as a healthcare issue, a mental health issue, a social issue or even in financial terms, all of which can be presented with impressive, and even astounding, statistics supporting our immediate need to deal with this epidemic of child abuse in America today.
I believe this has to become a movement.

Its going to take all of us, acting as a community of the concerned, to present these topics in a way that child abuse is seen as THE civil rights issue of our time.

In my experience, a child's life is dramatically changed .. killed, really .. at the time their abuse begins, putting them on a path of pain and destruction that never lets them complete their rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Perhaps no one is better positioned to understand these concepts than those of us who are Adult Survivors of Child Abuse. Its up to us to come together, to act in collaboration, moving forward the notion that far too little attention is being paid to America's REAL treasure, our kids.

We need to speak for them, for they are innocent and depended on us. They have no voice and no vote.

That's why its so easy for NAASCA to help coordinate the efforts of our friend Kathleen Moore, founder of "Army of Angeles" and coordinator of the Crime Prevention Awareness Month Opening Ceremonies and other activities that launch from Sacramento, CA, on April 1st.

In fact, we plan to broadcast a special LIVE and on-location Internet-based "Stop Child Abuse Now" talk show from the events, featuring interviews with many of the dignitaries who will be gathered there, including Mark Lunsford and Marc Klaas.

As April approaches, we'll keep you informed about the activities that will be happening across the country. One of them, the Kross Kountry-4-Kids Motorcycle tour, is explained below.

We'll also promote the need to support "Army of Angles" between now and then.

Here is a message from Kathleen Moore that we gladly pass on, along with matching MS Word documents that'll help you promote the cause, too.

NOTE: Be sure to listen to Kathleen Moore's appearance on the "Stop Child Abuse Now Show" - Episode # 235 - 01/27/12 now available on demand.

RE: National Child Abuse Prevention Month (N.C.A.P.M.) opening ceremonies (download MS Word documents HERE)

We would like to partner with you in stopping crimes against children. On Sunday, April 1st, Sacramento will be home to National Child Abuse Prevention Month (N.C.A.P.M.) opening ceremonies kicking off a 50 state campaign which works to protect our most innocent and vulnerable citizens. The day includes the departure of the Kross Kountry-4-Kids motorcycle tour, a Leadership Luncheon, a Family Safety Symposium and our Heroes with Heart Gala.

Help us call attention to this important cause.

We would be honored to have you support this coast-to-coast effort by making a point-of-purchase contribution for each product or service sold through your business between now and the end of April.

In recognition you will be included in appreciation announcements highlighting you or your business for lending significant support to the effort, and will have the opportunity to name your company as an “Official Sponsor” in all of your marketing activities.

This high profile effort includes CNN commentates Marc Klaas and Mark Lunsford, who appear on the Nancy Grace show, as well as a dozen other CNN justice related programs. Both lending their name and support to the program.

Mark Lunsford will lead Kross Kountry-4-Kids motorcycle trip to Washington DC and back, while Marc Klaas remains in Sacramento to host and speak at opening ceremony events.

Attached you will find a program flyer and fact sheet. I look forward to speaking with you about this opportunity and certainly hope to have the privilege of working together.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Moore

NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH (April) 2012

Opening Ceremonies Sunday April 1 st - Sacramento, CA

THE CAUSE:
National Child Abuse Prevention Month (NCAPM) is a time set aside to focus specifically on preventing child abuse/neglect within our communities. Specifically by fostering education and collaborations which facilitate the type of awareness required to prevent criminal conduct against the youngest and most vulnerable members of society.

THE CONCERN:
With crimes against children on the rise we have a moral obligation to focus upon this serious issue and take action which works against predators and all whom lack the ability or insight to properly protect children in their care.

THE CAMPAIGN:
The Greater Sacramento region proudly hosts this 50 state kick off, featuring opening ceremonies Sunday April 1 st collectively pulling people and resources together which will call significant attention to this important cause. Events that day include: Departure of Kross Kountry-4-Kids (Folsom Harley-Davidson 115 Woodmere Rd., Folsom, CA.) then a Leadership Luncheon, Family Safety Fair & Heroes With Heart Gala (Sunrise Event Center 11167 Trade Center Drive Rancho Cordova,CA. 95670).

The Camaraderie:
By pulling together individuals, groups and businesses which have a specific interest in this cause while forming partnerships with the Justice Community, Law Enforcement, Education Liaisons and Social Services we are able to facilitate collaborations which produce positive accessible resources that work to fulfill our mission, and secure safer communities for children.

CROSS COUNTRY:
Program partners from all 50 states participate in this project, working in harmony with foundational facilitators of Northern California, to generate a message and movement which is effective and brings forth positive sustained results. Incorporated into the United States outreach is a two week motorcycle journey traveling from Sacramento to Washington D.C. and back, serving as a formal and peaceful demonstration of help and hope for children nation wide!
